Government Adjusts Diesel (Fuel) Price; Gasoline Remains Unchanged Amid Global Market Uncertainty.

Monrovia, Liberia – March 5, 2026: The Government of the Republic of Liberia has been formally briefed by the Management of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) and the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) through the Economic Management Team, on the implications of the evolving geopolitical crisis in the Middle East and its possible impact on global petroleum supply chains and pricing dynamics.
During the briefing, LPRC and MoCI presented several pricing adjustment options aimed at safeguarding national fuel security while minimizing the economic burden on the Liberian public. Following careful review and deliberation in consultation with petroleum stakeholders, the Government determined that it would not be prudent to implement simultaneous price increases across multiple petroleum products at this time.
Accordingly, the Government has approved a targeted adjustment to diesel. The pump price of diesel has been increased by US$0.55. This adjustment will take effect immediately and will remain in place as a temporary measure for a period of one (1) month, after which the situation will be reassessed based on prevailing global market conditions.
The Government’s approach reflects its commitment to maintaining adequate national fuel supplies, prevent long queues, ensuring price stability, and protecting the broader economy during a period of heightened international uncertainty. By limiting the adjustment to a single product category, the Government seeks to balance fiscal responsibility with sensitivity to the economic realities faced by businesses and households across the country.
The Government assures the public that it will continue to closely monitor developments in the international petroleum market and remains prepared to take appropriate actions in the national interest.
The Government reaffirms its commitment to avert any sudden, unjustified price spikes while working closely with importers and dealers to ensure that the global situation is not exploited to create artificial shortages at the disadvantage of the consuming public.
Any individual or entity found hoarding or selling petroleum products above government's stipulated price, will face the full force of the law.
