House Committee on State Enterprises Tours LPRC. Expresses confidence in the high safety standard.
A three man delegation from the House of Representative of the Republic of Liberia sub-committee on State owned enterprises on May 10, 2018 toured the facility of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company. The delegation included Representatives Samuel Enders, Ellen Arthur and Thomas Gasuwah.
The visit was intended to access the company's first 100 days operations under the new management team. The Operations Manager and sentry, Mr. Bobby Brown led the delegation to several project sites to include, the partially completed Fuel Unloading Facility (FUF), the Mobil tank farm and the revamped site clinic.
Mr. Brown further informed the House's committee that though the new FUF is yet to be commissioned, LPRC management is momentarily using it to discharge fuel into its shore tanks due to the dilapidated condition of the 60 years old jetty that have outlived its usefulness.
“If the new jetty is hundred percent completed, Commission and in full use, it will make the country more fuel secure and will reduce the vessel discharge period there by totally eliminating demurrage payment to vessels.” Mr. Brown told the visiting team.
Speaking after the tour, the head of the delegation from the House Committee on State owned Enterprises, Honorable Samuel R. Enders thanked the Management of LPRC for the level of rehabilitation work being done especially the safety standard that is in place.
Speaking earlier, the LPRC Managing Director Ms. Nyemadi D. Pearson welcomed the delegation. Ms. Pearson further said the visit was timely and will enhance a better working relationship between the LPRC Management and the Committee.
