MD. Pearson Tours Mobil Tank Farm
The Management of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) has embarked on an ambitious plan of inspecting all its petroleum storage facilities in the country to assess the level of damage with the intent to rehabilitating them. The latest facility that was recently inspected on Thursday, March 29,2018 is the Mobil Tank Farm located at the Product Storage Terminal near the Free Port of Monrovia.
The Tour Guard and Operations Manager, Bobby Brown informed the members of the Executive Management Team led by Nyemadi Pearson that one of the tanks ( tanks- 401) was decommissioned over a year ago due to its dilapidated condition. " this tank is over 60 years old and has the capacity of 3million gallon of gasoline". Mr. Brown told the EMT.
Owing to the potential for economic growth in the country and the desire of the company to meet the domestic fuel demand of the economy, the LPRC's Managing Director has expressed interest in revitalizing tank 401 which has lie in ruin due do damaged floor plates, perforate walls and tilted foundation.
" From all indications, our country will soon experience a solid and positive development; as a result, the demand for petroleum products is expected to be very high in every sector of the economy. Therefore it is more compelling to accelerate plans for the reconditioning of this tank". LPRC's Managing Director Nyemadi Pearson remarked during the inspection tour.
Negotiations are expected to commence with several reputable engineering & construction firms to jump start the rehabilitation of tank 401 pending phase 2 of the Product Storage Terminal Rehabilitation and Expansion Project. When fully reconditioned and commissioned , tanks 401 will help LPRC enforce its strategy reserve requirement for importation by eliminating the ullage constraints faced by the entity. Specialists in the construction and maintenance of storage facilities have estimated a time frame of sixty (60) to ninety (90) days for the full completion of the project.
