1,500 Diesel Fuel Coupons Given to PUL
The Liberia Petroleum Refining Company (LPRC) in its continuous fight against the deadly Ebola virus has given to the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel worth of coupons.
During a brief ceremony on Wednesday August 13, at the headquarters of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) in Monrovia, Managing Director T. Nelson Williams, II said the LPRC was impressed with the manner in which the media continues to create awareness on the deadly Ebola virus as their messages in the print and electronic media is a major factor in the fight against Ebola.
Mr. Williams also noted “your jingles, talk shows and other programs and features give highlight on the fight against Ebola in the country and we like to hail you”. The LPRC boss also said “on behalf of the Board, Management and workforce of the LPRC, we like to say thanks to the media for the fight against Ebola and we encourage you to continue as we work in defeating the enemy, Ebola”. He further intoned that he had the backing of the Board and that the LPRC will not hold back in giving to the fight against Ebola as what use is the money when one has a health problem. Managing Director T. Nelson also stated that it was good for everyone to join in the fight against Ebola and that they at the LPRC have decided to hold back on their projects and fight the deadly Ebola virus noting “we must continue the fight against Ebola and we work half day and get in the field for the other part of the day in creating awareness against Ebola. The awareness must continue in our communities and other places”.
The coupons according to Mr. Williams are intended for radio stations and newspapers and that such was an initial contribution. Presenting the coupons, Assistant Public Relations Manager William Morris said they were grateful to the media for the awareness in the fight against Ebola. He recounted previous contributions made by the LPRC in the fight against Ebola with the US$ 75,000.00 given to the Ebola National Task Force, Ebola awareness in 11 communities in the vicinity of the LPRC where a consignment of fossil buckets and other disinfectants were distributed, donation of 700 gallons worth of diesel fuel coupons each to four major hospitals and 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel worth of coupons to the PUL for Television stations in the country.
Receiving the coupons, PUL Vice President Jallah Griffiths said they were grateful to the LPRC for the gesture and indicated that the LPRC previous gesture of 1,000 gallons of diesel coupons for Television Stations created a flood gate for other organizations to give to the PUL with the Liberia Business Association (LBA) donating 1,400 gallons of fuel.
