SAFETY EVANGELISM
What can be described as “Safety Evangelism” continues to take place with the observance of the safety week organized by the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) section.
The exercise which began on August 19, and ends on this Friday August 23, is five-day event that highlights the importance of safety to all Product Storage Terminal (PST) users.
Day two began with an indoor program with the need to remind all PST users of safety.
Managing Director T. Nelson Williams, II making remarks, thanked the HSE staff for the good work. Mr. Williams noted, “You are recognized highly, not only in-house, but in the community”.
He told the gathering in the Training Hall that the LPRC firemen were part of the ten years of peace celebration on Monday, August 19 and said “HSE is very important. With the Ganta Terminal rehabilitation starting, your job is further expanded. We are behind you one hundred percent”.
Deputy Managing Director for Operations Aaron J. Wheagar, I also speaking, said it is important that such week of awareness be organized, in reminding PST users about safety.
“The safety of the terminal is wholly dependent on the people”, Mr. Wheagar said.
“We must act safe, think safe and play safe”, Mr. Wheagar noted among others.
HSE Assistant Manager Ben Karnga then gave a concise highlight on “The HSE Management System” and “The Permit to work system”.
After the indoor program, each Executive Management Team (EMT) member led a group of other employees in moving to various offices at the PST to remind everyone on the need to be cautious of safety.
The week will be climaxed on this Friday with a clean-up campaign to give the PST a face lift. The campaign runs from 9:35 A.M. to 11:30 A.M., and by 2:00 P.M. The honoring program to climax the Employee Appreciation Week will take place.
