After losing five games in a row, the Oilers will be aiming to make amends when they face Nigerian giants Kano pillars in continuation of the Federation of International Basketball Association (FIBA) Africa Championship currently taking place in Tunisia.
The Oilers, who were bundled by Egyptian Club Alexandria 101-65 points on Tuesday in the same tournament, face Kano Pillars in the “battle of the losers”.
In a chat with Oilers president James Jappah, the match with Kano pillars this morning at 11:00AM (Liberian time) is intended to enable the losers find a place in the continental ranking.
The Oilers are now the least side in the competition at the 12th spot and a win will push them up at least. It can be recalled, the Oilers lost to Kano Pillars during the qualifiers in Monrovia as the Nigerian side ended at the top spot with the oil boys ending at second spot to get the license to qualify for the finals.
In a related development, the Oilers will be without two players due to illness and injury. Moussa Toure is down with malaria while the team`s best performer Aloysuis “Bulldog” Davison is injured.
